Who will be the next Pan American champion?

With the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships organized by the Pan American Gymnastics Union (UPAG) about to begin in Rio de Janeiro, excitement is building to find out who will be the next continental champions in the Individual All-Around competitions, titles that in recent years have been won by some of the biggest names in American gymnastics.

In women’s gymnastics, recent history has been marked by the talent of gymnasts who went on to shine on the world’s biggest stages. Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade was crowned Pan American champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2021. A year later, another Brazilian, Flávia Saraiva, defended the title on home soil by winning gold at the 2022 edition.

Tiana Sumanasekera of the United States took the title at the 2023 Medellín event, while Michelle Pineda of Mexico claimed the continental crown at the 2024 Santa Marta event. More recently, Jayla Hang of the United States was crowned Pan American champion at the 2025 Panama event.

In the men’s division, Brazil’s Caio Souza has dominated the continent in recent years. The gymnast won the Pan American title in 2021 and 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, and once again claimed the top spot on the podium in Santa Marta in 2024.

Among his victories, American Yul Moldauer claimed the title at the 2023 event in Medellín, while Canadian Félix Dolci became the most recent champion by winning the 2025 event in Panama.
