The Pan American Gymnastics Union (UPAG) extends its deepest gratitude to the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) for the impeccable organization of the 41st Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, an event that has already been marked as the biggest and greatest in the history of this sport.
For the first time, a World Championship was held in South America, and the place chosen was Rio de Janeiro, a city that vibrated with the passion, excellence and emotion of rhythmic gymnastics. A true celebration of the sport, where America was represented with strength and pride.
Brazil, owner of an unforgettable achievement
The Brazilian delegation wrote a golden chapter in the history of rhythmic gymnastics. In front of a packed Carioca Arena, the national team won two silver medals. With an impeccable performance, Brazil reached 55.250 points in the general group classification, only behind Japan (55.550) and ahead of Spain (54.750).
In the series of three hoops and two balls, the team shone with 27,850 points to the rhythm of the emblematic Brazilian song “Evidências”, thrilling everyone present.

Gymnasts Duda Arakaki, Nicole Pircio, Sofia Madeira, Maria Paula Caminha and Mariana Gonçalves, coached by Camila Ferezin and supported by assistant Bruna Martins, received a standing ovation at the awards ceremony. With tears in their eyes, they sang the National Anthem together with the audience, in a moment that will remain engraved in the memory of all sports lovers.
A milestone for the United States
The excitement also extended beyond Brazil. Rin Keys made history by becoming the first U.S. rhythmic gymnast to win a medal at a World Championships.
With a flawless routine in the ball final, Keys scored 29,050 points and won the silver medal, entering forever in the gymnastics books.
The growth of Pan American gymnastics
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) gave special recognition to seven countries that made their debut in a World Championship. Among them, four Pan American nations received a well-deserved tribute: Aruba, Costa Rica, Paraguay and Peru.
Their participation marks a new step in the growth and expansion of rhythmic gymnastics on the continent, reflecting the commitment and passion that drives the entire region.
At this event, UPAG President Kenia Herrera conferred the title of Honorary Member to Maria Luciene Cacho Resende, Honorary President of the CBG, in recognition of her exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to the development of Pan American gymnastics during her tenure at the head of the organization.
