Dear Pan American Gymnastics Family,
On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Pan American Gymnastics Union and all the National Federations of our continent, we express our solidarity with the Venezuelan Gymnastics Federation and the entire people of Venezuela in the face of the difficult circumstances caused by the powerful earthquake that struck their country.
We have learned with great concern of the damage sustained by the facilities of the Venezuelan Gymnastics Federation, the suspension of the national competition that was taking place on Margarita Island, and, especially, the distress being experienced by the families of our gymnasts and the entire Venezuelan gymnastics community. We are particularly concerned about the girls who remain separated from their loved ones, as well as the delegations currently outside the country who are facing difficulties returning due to damage to airport infrastructure.
In these uncertain times, we want to express our support, our solidarity, and our prayers for the swift location of the missing persons, for the safety of all members of the Venezuelan gymnastics community, and for the swift recovery of the affected areas.
The Pan American Gymnastics Union remains attentive to your needs and reiterates its willingness to do everything within our power to support the Venezuelan Gymnastics Federation during this difficult time.
Today, more than ever, our Pan-American community is proving that we are one family.
They have our support and the solidarity of all the federations that make up our Union. A warm embrace in solidarity,
Kenia Herrera, President of UPAG.
