{"id":3106,"date":"2025-07-17T17:25:30","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T17:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/upag-pagu.com\/?p=3106"},"modified":"2025-07-17T17:50:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T17:50:47","slug":"gabby-douglas-inducted-into-u-s-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/upag-pagu.com\/en\/gabby-douglas-inducted-into-u-s-hall-of-fame\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognition of sporting excellence: Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee honored with ESPYS Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-da6af3784984af259fef9c6bfcc482a8\"><\/p>\n\n<p>Gymnast Simone Biles was awarded double honors at ESPN&#8217;s ESPYS 2025 (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards for outstanding athletes.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>Best Championship Performance<\/strong> and <strong>Best Athlete &#8211; Women&#8217;s Sports <\/strong>awards demonstrate Biles&#8217; impact on gymnastics in her country and the world, &#8220;that was very unexpected, especially in an all-male category,&#8221; she said in a brief speech to a standing ovation from the audience.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Simone Biles wins ESPY for Best Championship Performance | 2025 ESPYS\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/15z4ogQGLuY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<p>The 28-year-old superstar is the author of impressive figures such as the 11 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamusa.com\/profiles\/simone-biles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">medals<\/mark><\/a> Olympic and 30 at World Championships, and added to that 7 ESPYS awards (2017, 2018, 2018, 2021, 2024 and 2025).<\/p>\n\n<p>Paris 2024 represents the basis for the award, since it won three gold medals and one silver medal in that sporting event, a return with a lot of focus after its participation in Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Triumphant return<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>In another very emotional moment, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamusa.com\/profiles\/sunisa-lee-1074875\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Suni Lee<\/mark><\/a> received the <strong>Best Comeback Athlete<\/strong> award, and thanked her parents, coaches and doctor for always believing in her, &#8220;I am very proud that we have never taken no for an answer. From hospital beds to three Olympic medals in Paris, this shows that no setback can stop you if you don&#8217;t stop fighting&#8221; she told the audience, &#8220;I just have to say never underestimate a girl who is determined to prove herself&#8221;
