The city of Medellin was the epicenter of continental gymnastics after hosting the 2026 Pan American Trampoline Championships.
Multi-medalist Ruben Padilla of the United States was the star of the event, winning a total of three gold medals and one bronze medal and qualifying for the Pan American Games in Lima next year.
I feel on top of the world,” said Padilla after receiving his awards, “this is my first time winning medals at a Pan American Championships in individual trampoline.
At the close of the day in the senior final Ruben and his compatriot Aliaksei Shostak won gold and silver respectively while Santiago Ferrari placed third with bronze.
The South American nation was also the scene of an innovation in gymnastics by incorporating for the first time the mixed synchronized category, whose gold in the final went to Maia Amano and Ruben Padilla with a total of 50.380 points.
Another outstanding result for the Argentine delegation was achieved by Ferrari in Double Mini Trampoline, who won the gold medal with a score of 28,600 points.
The women’s individual competition consolidated the dominance of the United States on the trampoline, as Maia Amano won the championship with a score of 55.190 points, in a very close finish against American Leah Garafalo, who took the silver medal with a score of 55.010, and rounding out the podium was Olympic gymnast Camilla Lopes of Brazil with 54.930.
